In the Middle Ages strawberries have been a symbol of trinity because of their three leaves. Despite of all its other advantages, it was regarded as a symbol of noble abjection and modesty. The blood red, downwards leaning fruit was a allegory of the spilt blood of Christ or the martyrs and the five leafy flower symbol of the five wounds of Christ. Once the fruit is ripe it is an emblem of a desire for the world. Next to the conventional function as an urn "ball of love" may also be seen as symbol, secret carrier, keepsake or art object. During the farewell "ball of love" is able to leave a last, unforgetable impression of the beloved person and through that offers a special memory. This urn is defined as art object as well and was manufactured in a limited and numbered edition of three pieces. Conceived and created by "cosmicball" Thomas Schaer.
